Isola Bella’s main shopping street (although it’s more of a short, narrow path) is Vicilo del Fronella, which winds through the old fishermen houses and remains open most days, as well as most hours of the days, in March-October. While some shops may close around the lunch hour (1pm-3pm), you’ll find that most shops are open during the late morning and late afternoon hours while the island remains open for visitors. The local shops lining the path focus on Italian-made brands, so don’t expect to find any big-name department stores here. For Italian gastronomy such as meats, cheeses, and wines, step into I Capricci or Il Fornello, Bottega Con Cucina, which is also a restaurant. For clothes, accessories, and handbags, peek into Il Vicilo, which sells everything from local perfumes to scarves and silk pajamas. Visit Italia Independent for fine jewels.
