On July 22, 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer met thirty-two-year-old Tracy Edwards near the Grand Avenue Mall and made him the same offer he made the others: money in exchange for photographs at his apartment. According to Dahmer, Edwards accepted, and the two were off to Dahmer’s apartment for a photo session.

Edwards told a different story. Edwards said he was with friends at the mall when Dahmer approached and invited them to a party at his apartment. Dahmer even said his girlfriend would be there. Edwards had seen Dahmer walking in the neighborhood, so he felt Dahmer wasn’t a total stranger. He claimed there was no mention of sexual activity. “He seemed like a regular guy,” Edwards remembered.

Edwards said his friends never showed up at the apartment because Dahmer had given them a different address. When the two were in the bedroom, where the movie The Exorcist was running on the VCR, Dahmer slapped a handcuff on Edwards and pulled a knife from under the bed, pressing it to Edwards’s chest. Edwards added that Dahmer pulled a skull out of a file cabinet and began rubbing it, telling Edwards how he would stay with him, too. Luckily, Edwards punched Dahmer and kicked him in the chest and was able to flee. Tracy Edwards spent five hours in hell and lived to tell about it when seventeen others had died.
