Prime Your Mind for Good

JOHN CACIOPPO IS a psychologist and researcher at the University of Chicago who conducted a study showing how our brains become more activated when presented with negative stimuli versus positive stimuli. This research showed us the neuroscience behind the theory that our brains are biased toward the negative.

Our brains are constantly on the lookout for danger, so of course they’re biased. However, when it comes to flying, it’s not that helpful for the brain to be caught in a cycle of fear, revving up our nervous system, tensing our bodies, and making the flight unbearable.

It’s important to practice priming the mind for good to create balance.

Say this to yourself right now: Unexpected good is on its way to me; all I have to do is be open to receive this newfound goodness. Be on the lookout for it; it may already be here.
