But how rough it must be,

For septuagenarian Bill,

Incarcerated by metal

And Spine:

Trapped in the body

With a traveling mind.

And how much rougher,

As the line draws so near,

If the epiphany hits him, and his mind’s eye is clear,

that the seizing clock ceases,

its rotations rescind,

that memories construct by palatine kings,

and all is revealed, his mind fully riled—

For William’s parents had but one child.

Shoestring

The cling clan of copper coins

Keeps K-mart courtesy clerks counting

Day by day and weeks to seasons

strung together by shoestring reasons

preferring crisscross Converse—

feelings: ventriloquists that sometimes waft, peel in

and run

round corners reeling,

never steeling but always stealing.

Glances.

With eyes worn & bleeding.

In recesses beneath

trusses,

down stone curbs abut busses—

orange, short, long lemon-toned

camisetas and chaquetas—blaze

the eye; Phone a sleek throng of drones

who buzz bereft of stingers’ Glee

fully cast in the tales of Fox—

peppered palaver that prostrates jocks

! Bring sunny delight that warms half smiles

in graying days

amid blue moons, spewed forth in citrus “jive.

Turkey, stay away! Hold your tongue!

With jumbled text oen’s nerev worgn!”
