How to practice Sandhya Kriya

Even after practicing Nadi Shodhanam and Sushumna Kriya one nostril may be more dominant. This means you need to consciously open the passive nostril without blocking the dominant or active nostril. This is also called Sushumna Application. There are four methods to practice Sushumna Application.

With external aids

1. applying pressure under the arms

2. lying on the opposite side

3. with Vishnu Mudra

Method 1 and Method 2 are not recommended, being unsuitable for advanced pranayama and dhyana. Method 3 is acceptable, though only as a transition to Method 4.
