“The government should continue to test marijuana to see if it is as bad as they say. We need less addiction pain medications—too many people get hooked on those too often. Marijuana can be used to comfort the addiction crisis. If we don’t give out so many pain meds, then people won’t get addicted as much.”
“I think as my generation (millenials) gains political power, and as we get more involved, the number of states that legalize marijuana will increase. Most old people don’t want it, but young people do. So as the old people get out of office and young people get in, they will pass laws to legalize it more.”
“My understanding is that though lawful in some states, it is still unlawful to grow, use and sell per federal statute. I think that if medicinal marijuana is permitted – there should only be a handful of doctors per region who can prescribe the medication. If a party seeks a prescription and they are denied, there should be an administrative appeals process. There are too many doctors who just give out marijuana prescriptions to anyone who wants one, whether they are sick or not. The law should be changed to limit the number of doctors who can prescribe it. They should be trained and know how marijuana affects a person, or how much they should use. Patients shouldn’t be able to use as much as they want legally. It should be more controlled, like other prescription drugs.”
“If marijuana is approved, either medicinally or recreationally, there need to be testing procedures put in place so folks aren’t driving under the influence. We don’t have that right now, so people who are high may get away with driving after they use pot. They can easily cause an accident and harm others.”
“The real problem is the kids that use. They see their parents or brothers/sisters use, or their friends. They start using drugs because they think its cool. They don’t know any better. If their parents are using, then they think its OK. Once a young person uses it is really hard to stop.”
