Eleven

Camden

The longer she talked to Jackson, the more relaxed Camden became until she was fighting off sleep when they started watching the next episode of The Witcher. Her head nodded a few times before she caught it, blinking rapidly and refocusing on the screen.

Eventually, she didn’t catch it and fell asleep, waking later to a dark room. The television was off and the only light came from a small night light plugged in by the bathroom.

She swallowed, grimacing at how dry her mouth was. She smacked her lips a few times, trying to wet her mouth before taking stock of herself.

She was covered in a blanket. That hadn’t been there earlier.

She wasn’t wearing shoes still.

She was fully clothed, not that she thought he’d do anything to remove them. He didn’t strike her as creepy like that.

Her eyes fully adjusted to the dark room, and she looked to her right and saw that Jackson was lying on his side facing her. She couldn’t make out much of his face, just the general shape of his nose and the curve of his chin.

She grimaced as she swallowed again and knew she needed to get some water. And she’d head out too. She didn’t want to overstay her welcome, especially since she fell asleep.

She slowly sat up and stretched as the blanket pooled in her lap. She squinted and tried to see where her phone had ended up. It wasn’t on the bed or in her pocket, but when she looked toward the nightstand on her side, she caught what looked like a phone. She grabbed it and hit the home button, squinting and grimacing at the brightness of the screen.

It was her phone, so she thumbed to the flashlight option and turned it on so she could see better.

She kicked the blanket on her lap off and threw her legs over the side of the bed.

“What are you doing?” Jackson asked sleepily from behind her, making her freeze.

“Uh…” she said, not sure how to respond.

She was trying to leave, but she hadn’t expected him waking. She shouldn’t feel awkward about leaving in the middle of the night. It wasn’t like they slept together or anything. Him waking up changed that though.

It made her feel weird knowing he was awake and aware she was leaving.

“Are you leaving?” He sounded more awake now and she could hear rustling.

A light clicked on behind her and she cringed before turning so she could see Jackson.

What little saliva still in her mouth dried up as she took him in. He wasn’t wearing a shirt, which meant all his glorious muscles were on display. She knew he was ripped; he was a football player. They had to work out a lot to stay at the top of their game.

She’d also watched how his biceps bunched more than she would ever admit to anyone.

They were two perfectly round spheres that were just begging to be watched. She would be doing the women of the university a disservice if she didn’t watch them.
