Machine Quilting Stitches

Support your quilt on all sides. Quilt on a large table. You can use an ironing board, adjusted to your table height, on the left-hand side and perpendicular to the table. Ideally, your sewing machine should be recessed into the table to create a level surface, but this is not absolutely essential.

1. To start machine quilting, reduce your stitch length almost (but not exactly) to 0 and lower the presser foot right over the spot where you plan to start quilting. Holding on to the top thread, take a complete stitch, so the needle returns to its highest position.
