Pictures and Description
OK. Believe it or not, you are over half way there. This next area will be for pictures. eBay suggests that you use at least 3 pictures of your item. We took those pictures earlier, so they are ready to go. Just click on the box that says ‘click to add pictures’ and a new screen will come up. Just browse, click on the picture you want, and then “open”, and then click upload at the bottom of this new page. You really don’t need the extras they are offering!
In just a few seconds, it will go back to the form we are filling out, and you will see your picture there. Now do that with a few more pictures. You will want the front of the sweater, the back, and maybe a picture of the tag showing the brand name and size. And any other pictures you might have that show detail. If the sweater has some really pretty designing in the hem, or perhaps a picture on the neckline, show that. You get up to 12 pictures free with your listing.
The next item is to describe the item you are selling. This is another of those really important areas to take time with. Remember the importance of the title? Well, here is another one. I am going to say more than necessary here, perhaps, but I think it is important. I already mentioned that you are writing in your ad things that the customer might look for themselves if they were actually holding on to your item. So describe it completely. Be creative in your writing of this, and try to make the customer feel the wool, smell the fresh scent, imagine their little baby girl wearing this sweater.
You have all the room you need to write your description. There are no limits to the number of words you can use. So, use them.
You might consider telling a story about the sweater, if there is one. Perhaps this is a handmade sweater, made by your next door neighbor. You might say that “the elderly lady next door is always making something, or knitting something, and offers these to people in the neighborhood as gifts. And when you saw it, you thought it would be perfect for your little girl. The problem was that your girl was born in July, and by the time it turned cool in October, the sweater was too small for your growing gal.” You’ve painted a picture of the making of the sweater that will perhaps touch the heart of your potential customer.
Talk about the size, the feel, the softness, the sturdiness, the washability, and everything else you can think of. Don’t be dishonest and suggest that it will walk by itself, (LOL), but make it sizzle in the eyes of the customer.
The next item asks if you want a Listing Designer. These are like frames around your listing, and they are nice, although they do cost. I have tried them in the past, but didn’t feel that they really did anything for me.
