Realizations

A look into some of the dramatic and highly positive transformations of personal consciousness that occur during intensified mahamantra yoga

You must realize my friend, that the deeper we go into this, both written and spoken words of formal language become less and less adequate as a medium of expression.

This chapter describes some of the subjective experiences that one may encounter at the dawning of genuine association with Sri Nama Avatara, the living mahamantra. The initial state of these realizations is herein referred to as entrance into the internal forest of the heart through the profound hearing and chanting of the mahamantra. When this occurs, material time and space as well as material egoism fade into oblivion. One contacts the infinitesimal nature of the true self. A strong and pronounced shift of consciousness becomes the obvious manifestation, as the practitioner helplessly falls headlong into a swoon of intense wonder.

In reading this chapter I will clearly understand that these points do not express conceptions of ordinary happiness or common well-being. Those ordinary states are limited to the relative plane. Factual realization is understandable only to the realized. There, within that sacred space of realization, I can know with absolute certainty just what is being described within this chapter. Mere words cannot convey the dynamics and the intensity of realized states of consciousness. Neither the author’s articulation nor the reader’s sensitivity can help now. Only intensified practice and the mercy of the transcendental agents can provide the full revelation that I desire.

Still, these points have been presented, and further I am attempting to relay some sense of understanding by giving a more detailed description of the subjective characteristics related to these points. It should be emphasized that the points of this chapter have been drawn out of immediate and authentic experience and composed at a later time from memory and from a body of notes. The notes were written down directly after the experiences during a period of more than twenty years. Though I am a very ordinary fellow by material standards, I did in fact on numerous occasions directly perceive and live through all that is about to be described. I do not live continuously in those rarefied states of consciousness, but I have full confidence that I will enter within those wondrous domains and far beyond them in due course when I have become sufficiently purified. I have been there, and anyone else who is sufficiently committed can go there as well. Great hope shines down upon all of us. The invitation is extended forever. As mentioned by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura in his forward to Sri Brahma-samhita, “The Transcendental Autocrat is ever inviting the fallen conditioned souls to associate with Him through devotion or eternal serving mood.” The author of Mahamantra Yoga is far less qualified than most other persons. The only conclusion to be arrived at by analyzing all these facts can be stated in the following points:

Point 6.1

That state of profound hearing and chanting of the mahamantra arises by the power and mercy of the mahamantra.
