Chapter 13

Kay

We had just made it back to Richmond and were almost at the hospital, when bullets begun penetrating the SUV were in. I could hear the girls starting to scream and see Candy in the review mirror climbing into the back with them. She pushed all three of them onto the floor and laid on top of them, as Jade took lil’ O out of his car seat and laid on the floor with him under her. Orion was opening up the sunroof just as I was rolling down my window to bust back. Next thing I know he was pulling out one of those military guns and shooting back as he was hanging out of the sunroof.

“Just get us the hell out of here,” Orion called out to me as he shot out the passenger side window of the car shooting at us. Shit, for a minute I had forgot the kids were in the car and was about to have a shoot-out with them niggas. I pulled my gun back into the car and pulled, off instead of following them like I wanted to. I had to make sure my family got somewhere safe first.

Fuck, I don’t have anywhere safe for them to go since we didn’t even have a home, I thought to myself, or at least I thought I did.

“You guys can stay at our house until you find somewhere else to stay,” Orion said to me as he gave me directions to their house.

“I can’t put y’all in anymore danger; I’ll find somewhere else for us to go.” I didn’t want to put them in anymore danger than I already have, especially with them having a newborn.

“No one would think you nor the kids were at our house. Besides, Orion got enough weaponry in that house to be a one man army,” Jade said through a shaky voice, as she sat back in the seat and buckled in lil’ Orion.

I had to admit what Jade said was right, because no one who knew that I was gone knew Jade was in Utah with us besides my family and Dolla’s. Shit, they didn’t even know her ass was back in Richmond except a handful of people. Moreover, in the eyes of everyone on the street, there was still bad blood between Jade and I. We were going to use that to our advantage.

I followed the directions Orion gave me and pulled up to a three-story white house with blue shutters, in the Richmond Hills. I brought the girls and all our bags into Orion and Jade’s house, in one trip with Candy’s help. The girls were shaken up and holding on to me tightly, making me want to get out there and find them niggas even more, but I had to make sure my kids were straight first.

I followed behind Orion up the stairs until we got to the third floor. “This whole third floor is the guest floor, pick any room you like,” he said before he turned around and headed back down the stairs.
