Jonathan's description (Example D, page 127) of his current position at Faunton is brief—just the basic responsibilities and reporting relationships. He uses far more detail to describe his “select achievements.” These details showcase his competencies and his ability to contribute to the next employer. In addition, each bullet point contains enough information to be meaningful and to prompt a question from the recruiter or hiring manager.

One way to approach your core accomplishments is to think about three stories you will want to tell an interviewer. These stories should quickly capture and convey your technical skills and your leadership capabilities. In other words, these stories should tell what you're good at in a way that will get people to remember you. Your resume will set you up to tell these stories. Each story should have three parts: the circumstance or challenge, the action taken, and the result.
