I often sat and listened.

A fish jumped.

The waves moved softly over the still water and onto the shore.

The bay mirrored the tiny specks of light in the black, velvety sky.

Unheard music flowed from the celestial bodies above, moving in their patterns and throwing their beams to earth like an extended, friendly hand. They moved to numbers, just as a piece of music does, and played their song. The ancients called this unheard music, “the harmony of the spheres.”

Dangling my feet over the dock, I was comforted by the sea air, the star song, and the calm bay. I was not alone, but I was part of something bigger than my own questions. I was just a creature on a planet teeming with countless other creatures, where everything had its place and worked in harmony. The earth is filled with peace and fury, lights and fire, delicate sea foam and surging waves.
