One day, before the sun was shining over the rim of the hill, Goat saw some cows on the loose, running up the hill. She wondered where they wanted to go. All she could do was watch and hope a car wasn’t coming up the narrow lane. Ages later the farmer came running with her dogs. Goat could hear the farmer calling all across the valley. Eventually the farmer came back down the road with the dogs and cows.

This morning she sees no sign of Kākā. Everything looks the same.

Except … except!

Except there is a stray cat prowling around the breakfast bowls next door.

Dog and Cat haven’t noticed. Dog and Cat are too busy rolling on the grass and gravel purring and yelping with delight.

The stray cat spots Dog and Cat and arches its back. It flicks its tail and hisses.

Still Dog and Cat roll about.

The stray cat is polishing off their breakfast.

Suddenly Dog and Cat stop rolling. They look at the stray cat and they freeze.

Dog starts barking. Cat starts hissing. Then it is pandemonium.
