The Lenni Lenape Indians, known to English-speaking people as the Delaware, were splintered by the American Revolution. Many Delaware chose to oppose the Americans, and siding with the British, moved towards the northwest near then British Fort Detroit. Delawareâs choosing to side with the Americans remained at their ancestral home of Coshocton. A third group of Delawareâs, having been converted to Christianity by Moravian missionaries, remained in isolated villages throughout what would become Ohio.
