Your spiritual planet, Mercury, is also the ruler of your 9th house of religion, philosophy, theology and higher learning. In general, this would favour investigating the mystical side – the esoteric side – of your native religion. Every religion has its mystical side. Every religion is based on the mystical experiences of its founder and early disciples. So it is good to explore these things. Beneath all the rules, regulations and superstitions – the accretions put on by human minds – lies something pure and beautiful. It is good to delve into this.

Mercury is a fast-moving planet, as our regular readers know. During the course of a year he will move through your entire chart. Thus, spiritual lessons come to you in many ways and through various people. There is no one, correct way to learn. Sometimes the lessons will come in finance, or love, or the career, or in your place of worship. It all depends on where Mercury is and the kinds of aspects he receives.

But the main headline in your spiritual life is spiritual healing. Neptune, the most spiritual of planets, has been in your 6th house of health since 2012 and will be there for many more years. So, you are going deeper, year by year, into the mysteries of spiritual healing – the role of spirit on the physical, emotional and mental bodies. This is really your mission these days. This is the path of spiritual growth.

Spiritual healing is a bit different than mind-body healing (though mind-body is very good). While it is good to treat the mind – to change its thinking from negative to positive – there are certain areas of the mind that can’t be accessed by mind (human mind) alone. The human mind cannot really heal itself – in many cases it is the actual problem. What is needed is a power – an energy – that is above the human mind to come in and heal the problem. It happens first on the mental level, then the feelings are changed and finally the body. It generally proceeds in stages.

Mind controls the body absolutely. And the mind itself was designed to be controlled by spirit. Indeed, if this were to happen, disease would be an impossibility. But humans have the gift of free will and thus spirit is not in complete control of the mind. The seeds of pathology were planted due to the misuse of human free will. So, when this higher power of spirit is invoked, it will start to search the human mind and clear out the fallacies – the mental debris there. Thus, the natural state of health – the way it was originally intended – starts to manifest.

In spiritual healing we acknowledge one source of health and healing – the Divine. Often the Divine will work through instruments – doctors, therapists, surgeons, pills or herbs – but not necessarily. It can act directly on the body without any human intervention. It’s a case-by-case situation. It seems to me that much depends on the person’s belief system.
