14. CHAKRA BHEDAN

This is a process to pierce the chakras. You must be able to “see” the chakras. Try to see the “light” in the ajna chakra first. When that becomes easy, try to see the light in another chakra. When this is successful, the light in the ajna will change, because it is a reflection from the other chakras.282

The breathing is ujjayi; with closed eyes, gaze to ajna chakra. Curl the tongue back into the throat in amritpan khechari mudra. Inhale and draw the energy up the front arohan passage from muladhara chakra to svadhisthana, manipura, anahata, and vishuddhi chakras. Exhale from vishuddhi to bindu to ajna, across the throat at vishuddhi, and down the awarohan back passage to anahata, manipura, and svadhisthana. Start the next inhalation at svadhisthana; go down to muladhara and then up the frontal passage to svadhisthana, manipura, anahata, and vishuddhi. Exhale to bindu, ajna, and vishuddhi, and descend down the back passage to svadhisthana, as described above. Continue the process fifty-nine times. You can name each chakra during the process, as you try to see its light.
