Little sparrows hopped on to the balcony and pecked at the seeds that were in the bird feed. There were 10 of them. Soon, 10 more flew in and sat on the railing and cocked their little heads this way and that. And when it appeared safe, they hopped on to the seeds as well. How many sparrows were now eating from the feeder?

Perhaps sparrows have newspapers of their own, because the news of the seeds spread quickly, and 10 more landed on the balcony, fluttering their wings and cheeping noisily. How many sparrows were on the balcony now?

Then the sparrows had an unexpected visitor—a crow. As the crow hopped through the group of sparrows, its large wings outstretched, many of the sparrows stepped back in fright. Within minutes, 10 sparrows flew away. How many sparrows were now left?

And then, another crow came. Of course, as soon as the second crow came, yet another batch of 10 sparrows flew away. How many sparrows were left on the balcony now?
