In general, smaller species of lemurs are omnivores — meaning they eat plants and insects, while the larger species are herbivores. However, a hungry lemur will usually eat anything it can find.

As the name suggests, the greater bamboo lemur eats almost entirely bamboo. Bamboo contains large amounts of the poison cyanide, which would be lethal to most mammals, but obviously not to them!

Social species of lemurs will groom each other to solidify their relationships. They do this by licking the fur and then scraping out any bugs or dirt with their toothcombs.
