CHAPTER 11

WHEN WELL-MEANING SUPERHEROES ATTACK

Larryboy quickly moved to another desk that was beside the other superhero with M.M. on her mask.

“Nifty mask,” Larryboy said. “Is it new?” “As a matter of fact, it is,” she said. “My old one was a poly-blend and gave me a horrible rash, when I got hot chasing villains. This one is high-tech Cottonesque. Wicks away the perspiration.”

“I get the message,” Larryboy said with a wink, trying to trick his new prime suspect.

“Funny you should mention that,” the unknown superhero replied. “I’m very good with messages.”

“I bet you are,” Larryboy said, standing slowly. “Well, here’s a message from Larryboy! It’s not nice to mess with the ears of Bumblyburg!” With that, Larryboy shot both of his super-suction ears at the masked potato! When the other superheroes heard the commotion, they instinctively activated all of their super-gadgets.

In a split second, the room was filled with ropes, grappling hooks, nets, hoses, smoke, bungee cords, squid ink, foam, slingshots, boomerangs, and a saxophone.

Just then, Bok Choy re-entered the room. “Larryboy, there’s plenty of coffee in the …” Then he saw the mess. “What’s going on here?”

Larryboy spoke up. “I discovered a super-villian infiltrating our class! The Masked Messenger! Her evil plan was to interfere with the ability of our fine citizens to be good listeners, thereby creating chaos and confusion!”
