Chapter 18

Callie

I toss Rachel's license plate in the trunk and slam it shut, bending to double check the fake one looks legit. I'd never stop driving if it came to it, so it makes no difference if the real one is sitting right here in the trunk. Switching plates is only to ensure nothing comes back on Rachel if I'm ever chased by the cops, which is doubtful but you never know.

I climb back inside and start the ignition, ignoring the pain in my ass while I check my burner phone to eye the address of the warehouse in LA. It's one I've been to a couple times before, so I decide I can get there by memory and toss both my phones in the center console. Just when I'm about to hit the gas, the passenger side door swings open and I jump, sliding my always loaded gun from the waistband of my jeans without hesitation. A huge, dark figure jumps inside and I point it directly at his head, squinting into the darkness when he drops his hood.

“Are you out of your fucking mind?!” I snap, dropping the gun to smack his chest. “I could have shot you.”

“But you didn't.” Damon shrugs, grinning when I glare.

But you didn't, he says.

Stupid prick..

Just then, both back doors open and the twins jump inside, hitting me with their stupid matching grins when I spin to face them.

“Fuck, no.” I shake my head, looking between the three. “Get out.”

“That’s not very nice now, is it?” Kai jokes, reaching over to pull his seatbelt on. “Where we goin’, sister?”

I lock my jaw and scrub my hands over my face, sighing. “Boys, I'm not joking right now. Get out.”

They ignore me.

“Okay, look.” I start, sliding the gun back into my waistband. “What I'm about to do is dangerous and illegal as fuck. I don't want your shit on my conscience if something goes wrong.”

Wren snorts. “What conscience?”

I raise a brow at that, eyeing him through the rear view. “You're really not gonna get out?”

“Nope.”

I shake my head at them, cursing the massive idiot next to me while I face forward and hit the gas because I know this is all his doing, the persistent prick. He smirks to himself like he can hear my inner thoughts and I fist the wheel, wishing he'd stop doing that because it's pissing me off.

“What's that?”

I frown, looking at Kai. “What’s what?”

“That mark on your neck.”

I lick my lips and pop the collar on my hoodie, rolling my eyes when he laughs at me. He leans forward and pulls Damon's jacket out a bit to eye the hickeys on his neck and the scratch marks on his back, grinning like an asshole when Wren scoffs and tosses him a few hundred dollar bills.

Damon frowns at that, turning to look at them. “You bet on me fucking her?”

“First day she got here.” Kai informs him, counting his cash. “Easiest grand I ever made, brother.”

“Idiots.”

I laugh and pull up outside Honey's in LA, climbing out to lean my elbows on the doorframe.
