Put your pot in a bright sunny place, either inside or out. Every day touch the soil gently. If it’s dry, water just enough to wet the surface, without drowning the baby plants.

Once your little plants have three leaves, you can begin to harvest lettuce. You may pick one out of every three, as the plant grows bigger. Since you’ve planted lots of little baby plants, you will be able to pick a few leaves every day, maybe even enough to make a little fresh salad!

Once the weather gets cold enough to freeze, or when the plant suddenly sends up a stalk, you won’t be able to pick any more. Turn the bowl upside down into the compost pile and dig it in. You can start another one for inside the house if you want, but clean the bowl thoroughly and start with all new potting soil.
