Luna

I wake up feeling warm, cozy, and safe. My mate has me wrapped up in his arms, holding me against his chest. I snuggle up closer, burying my face into the side of his neck and breathing him in.

A sense of peace and belonging fills me up. I’m more content than I’ve been in months, maybe ever. I don’t have to pretend I’m okay or that my mom’s death didn’t affect me. I don't have to produce artwork at the snap of my dad’s fingers or feel guilty when I don’t get something done in time.

Wren has shown me every minute of every hour how happy he is just to be near me. How crazy is that? Most people never experience the kind of love and acceptance I’ve found with my gentle giant.

He’s more than just sweet and cuddly, however.

What we shared last night was…

My cheeks heat just thinking about it. Wren was an absolute beast, tearing me apart, bringing me pleasure after pleasure and ripping more orgasms out of me than I thought possible.

Yet through it all, he was still my sweet, thoughtful Wren. How he managed to be both is a mystery, much like my mate.

The mark on the side of my neck tingles at the word, which has liquid heat pooling in my belly. What is up with that? It’s like his bite mark is connected to my throbbing clit by a string. Then again, just about everything this man does makes me weak with desire.

Wren stirs awake, a deep, gravelly groan leaving his lips as he nuzzles into the side of my neck and kisses his mark. I sigh contentedly and run my fingers through his hair.

“Morning,” I whisper.

Wren grunts and holds me closer, pulling us under the blankets. I giggle and try to break free, but Wren grunts again. Who knew my giant shifter mate was so grumpy first thing in the morning? It’s another unexpectedly adorable thing about him.

“Again,” he mumbles, the sound a little rough from sleep.

“Again?” I ask in confusion.

“Your laugh… I want to hear it again.”

God. Swoon.

“Hmm… maybe you’ll have to earn it,” I tease, rubbing my nose against his.

The next thing I know, Wren flips me on my back and pins my arms above my head. His eyes are dark and heated, but there’s a playfulness underneath it all that warms my heart.

He leans down and brushes his nose and lips up and down my throat before peppering light kisses across my chest and collarbone. I tilt my head back and close my eyes, getting lost in the way Wren is loving my body.

He cups my breast, kneading the soft flesh before trailing his hands lower, lower, lower…

And then he tickles me.

I’m so shocked I don’t move at first, but when his other hand tickles me as well, I squirm and giggle and try rolling away.

“I’m earning your laughter,” Wren says. His voice is serious but his eyes are sparkling with mischief.

I giggle again, loving the way it makes Wren smile.
