“How long do you think this is going to take?” Clothilde asks from her perch. Where I usually try to respect the physical laws of the living, Clothilde doesn’t care. She’s standing on thin air to get a view of the parking lot over the wall.

I glance at the newly installed mausoleum over Flo’s grave, with its brilliant gold letters and shiny surface. “Any day now.” The mom came by this morning, and Flo cried as many tears as her mom during the encounter. The dad was absent, though, and the mother promised he’d drop in soon.

He’ll be here soon. The question is whether or not he’ll have a tail.

“Ah,” Clothilde says. “A Ferrari. Haven’t seen it before. Might be our guy.”

I rise from my seat and walk over to the main entrance, where Flo is waiting. “Your father?” I ask.

She nods.
