Christianity was the true, original Christianity; and there is every reason to treat the four biblical Gospels as both essentially uncorrupted, and the most reliable witnesses available to the Jesus of history. Instead of hard evidence, we have (at best) been presented with mere speculation and highly questionable possibilities. Absent a better theory, it seems extremely unlikely that the Muslim Jesus was preached in a historical line through Abraham, James, the Ebionites and then Muhammad. Where, then, did he come from?
