With the differential completely disassembled, it is time to check all the parts and see what you have. Obviously wearable parts, such as bearings, that are replaced do not need to be checked

1 Clean all parts with mineral spirits or a dry cleaning solvent. Use compressed air to dry the axle shaft bearings.

2 To clean the axle housing tubes, insert a long, stiff wire into the axle tube from the outer end. Attach a clean cloth to the wire in the center housing and pull the cloth from the center outward. Scrape gasket surfaces of carrier and cover to remove old gasket material.
