Shifters 2: Claiming Skyler – Jaden Sinclair charged at Dedrick, grabbed the man by his shirt. “So why don’t you leave me the fuck alone.” He pushed Dedrick away from him with a snarl. He turned his back on Dedrick, pacing the room, feeling edgy.

“I shouldn’t have come back here.” He stopped his pacing and glared at Dedrick. “I should have kicked your ass for not telling her and left!”

“Are you finished?” Dedrick bellowed back.

“Yeah,” Adrian growled. “I’m finished.”

“Good. Now sit down and shut the fuck up,” Dedrick growled, pointing at the bed.

Adrian gave him another glare before going to the bed and sitting down on the edge.

“I’m not going to stand here and stroke that ego of yours by telling you you’re a good guy. You’ve always been like a bitch in heat, always sniffing for the next girl to sleep with. Skyler saw it and I saw the way she always looked at you. If you hadn’t fucked that girl that night, or if Skyler hadn’t seen it, this shit wouldn’t be happening now. But it is!”

Adrian opened his mouth to speak, but Dedrick cut him off.

“Let me finish. Giving Skyler this time, I think it’s going to be good for both of you. You need to cool off, and she needs the time to think. But what I don’t think is going to help is you drinking.”

Dedrick snatched the bottle from the table before Adrian could grab it. “So you do whatever it is you think you need to do, just keep the booze out of it.” Dedrick nodded, turned, and headed for the door.

“What if she never accepts me?” Adrian asked, feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Dedrick stopped with his hand on the knob. He didn’t turn around when he spoke. “I don’t know, Adrian. This time, I don’t have the answers.”

Adrian spent the rest of the week locked in his room. He didn’t come out for meals, didn’t answer when Stefan or Sidney knocked on the door asking how he was doing. All he did was sit in a corner, on the floor of his room, defeated. He felt broken, lost, as if his world was crashing down around him. His heat came like it did every month, and it raged in his system with a new demand that was so painful it blurred his vision. And Adrian took it all. He didn’t move from his corner, didn’t cry out. Feeling as if it was the punishment for all the wrongs he’d done Skyler, he just let the pain hit with his need.
