Rakesh: This was really a very enlightening session. We will try to follow everything you told us. Thanks for your valuable time!
Riyaz: No problem, folks. You can approach me anytime in the future also, in case you are stuck somewhere.
Akshata and Mayank: Thanks, Riyaz.
Riyaz wished them the best and guided them outside. They walked towards the food court talking to each other about what they had learnt.
Mayank: It was good we had this discussion with Riyaz. Extremely valuable, I must say! Now a lot of my fears seem to have been resolved and I am excited to start working.
Rakesh: Absolutely. Thatâs why I planned this discussion. Now at least we wonât be completely clueless on the floor.
Mayank: Hmmmâ¦so what is the plan now?
Akshata: I need to go to the hostel for five minutes.
Rakesh: Now why would you go to the hostel? Why canât we go to the TT room and play?
Akshata: (already walking) I just need five minutes. You guys carry on. And please donât fight!
Akshataâs advice was never heeded. In spite of her best efforts, her boyfriend and her best friend were never able to get along well. Rakesh did not like Mayank a bit. He always felt that Mayank did not deserve a girl like Akshata, and that he was far better. The sense of loss was too great for him to forget. And Mayank made matters worse by not losing any opportunity to point out that Rakesh was âjust a friendâ. Not just that, Rakesh and Mayank were as different as chalk and cheese. They had completely different viewpoints about things, and almost always found themselves in the opposite sides of any argument be it politics, sports or movies.
So five minutes was ample time for them to get into another argument! Mayank was the one to begin this time.
Mayank: She has gone to the hostel to get the gift which she bought for me yesterday.
Rakesh: She got a gift for you? How do you know?
Mayank: Yes, an iPhone. Sakshi told me.
Rakesh: I donât like all this âsurpriseâ stuff which you are doing. Why donât you tell her the truth? She must have spent at least 50k for buying the iPhone.
Mayank: Thatâs affection, dude. She loves me. And I love her too.
Rakesh: So you let her spend some 50k out of her pocket to get you a gift? We havenât even started getting our full salaries. Imagine how difficult it must have been. Thatâs your love for her?
Mayank: Rakesh, do you know what your problem is? It is that you are extremely selfish. You can never do anything to make somebody happy. Even if she is your best friend! You clearly see that she is happy being with me. But you are so selfish that you want me and her away from each other, even if that makes her sad. Her happiness is secondary for you.
Rakesh got angry.
Rakesh: How dare you say that? You know neither me, nor the time I spent with her, before you came to her life.
