INTERPRETATION

You are feeling deeply hurt in the areas of friendships and intimate relationships. You have become disappointed and disillusioned in someone or something. In reality, you have stepped out of the illusion you were in and finally see it for what it is. You feel a loss of balance in the face of the truth. Waking up from fantasy bonds is hard to do. Disappointment is the tool that the universe uses to crack you open and allow you to see what is. You are hurt, you are in pain, and you had an expectation that was not fulfilled. Somehow things went too far. You might want to cut your losses at this time and make some big changes. Disappointment can be a great teacher if you are willing to see what went wrong. You might be feeling great fear in the face of loss at this time. Letting go of old pictures frees the possibility of something better coming in. Disappointments open up old pains from the past so we can heal them. Disappointments in work situations show us where we were not paying attention. Disappointment opens us up to new possibilities that we were unwilling to look at previously. Only by communicating the hurt can adjustments be made. You feel in this moment like you want to "Take your marbles and go home." But what is more difficult it to allow others to see your hurt and to work in a conscious way to find a better balance.

REVERSED MEANING

Reversed, you may be in denial that you are feeling terribly hurt and disappointed in someone or something. To admit you are hurt is frightening because it indicates that you may have made some poor choices. Who you are really disappointed in is yourself. Remember, mistakes are how we learn and grow. Be honest and the truth will start some new patterns in motion. You need to admit to your partner what is not working in the relationship so it can heal. Admitting failure is the beginning of true success. Reversed, this card is telling you that you cannot hide from what you feel. Take a moment and let the truth of the pain sink in. Don't worry; you are not going to die. If you allow yourself to love the parts that feel disappointed and hurt, then they can heal. When you are honest with yourself, it is easier to be honest with others. When you are being honest with others, they feel let in and new love and intimacy can grow again. This card reversed is a strong indication that you are not in this moment but replaying a pattern of wounding from your childhood or past. A situation in your life has bumped into that old wound and what you thought was healed you now see was simply swept under a rug.
