The Throat Chakra

The throat chakra is situated at the base of the neck and is associated with the thyroid gland. The second layer of the aura (see chapter 9 for more on the layers of the aura) is called the “etheric auric body” and is associated with the throat chakra. The etheric value is that of vibration, and sound is a form of vibration that can be used for communication. We use the throat chakra to express ourselves, as a means of telling others what we feel and think. We don’t only use the throat chakra to express ourselves; we also receive vibrations through this chakra. For example, if we see or hear something that stirs our emotions, we get a lump in our throat.

This chakra is between the mind, which sees things in a practical way, and the heart, which relies on emotions, so sometimes there is a conflict in this area. People with balanced throat chakras are confident and articulate, whereas those who have a blockage in the throat chakra have problems expressing themselves. They may tend to swallow and stammer, they are easily influenced and misled by others, and their creativity can is often dampened.
