Episode Eight
I am recording another episode of Iggyâs World. But only because after Roach posted the last show this morning, my podcast went viral. Everyoneâs listening to my podcast now.
Everyone, that is, except Mom and Dad. Obviously, they havenât bothered to check out my show or I would have gotten at least one angry text. But not a peep. Dad didnât even bother to check whether I took down the Cara episodes.
Whatever. I have a big following now. And Iâm going to use it to get my revenge on my sister. If Cara wants war, then bring it. Itâs war.
Hereâs my plan. I know two things about my sister that she doesnât think I knowâher school schedule and the combination to the lock on her locker. And hereâs a third thing I know about her: she hates crickets. I went home at lunch and brought my cricket house to school. Now, during my spare, Iâm in the hallway. Everyone is in class, including my sister. But in just a few minutes, sheâll move on to band. Sheâll come here, to her locker, to get her flute like she always does. Except this time, thereâll be a little surprise waiting for her.
Iâve got to work fast. Iâll just tuck my cell in my shirt pocket while I open her locker. Ew, disgusting. It reeks of perfume. And god, sheâs even got a mirror and makeup kit in here. What does she do, apply makeup between each class? Probably. Itâs got to take a lot of work to look that good all the time.
Okay, crickets! Out of your container and into Caraâs locker. Scuttle away. Find a place to hide.
Iâll just close Caraâs locker and wait over here by the janitorâs closet for the magic to begin. The bell should ring any minute.
You may be wondering why I would do this to my crickets. I mean, put them in a locker just to scare my sister. But donât forget, I only keep them to feed my tarantulas and scorpions. And itâs not like theyâre going to harm the environment if they get loose. There are crickets all over the place here.
Oh! Thereâs the bell. And thereâs the thundering sound of feet as kids stampede down the hall to get to their next class. Where is she? Ah, there she is. Sheâs hard to miss, even in this school full of actresses. Everyone turns to watch her as she struts down the hall, as if sheâs royalty or something. Just because she has a regular acting job and they donât.
Cara has stopped at her locker. Sheâs turning the combination on her lock. Wait for it. Wait for itâ¦
âWhat the hell? Eee!â
That is the sweet sound of success. My sister screaming after she reached into her locker and pulled out a flute case covered in crickets. And now the crickets are crawling all over her. And into her hair. Theyâre kind of sticky and weird when they cling onto you.
âIggy! Where are you?!â
Damn, she sees me.
