Chapter Thirteen

Well, that was fun. My drink is empty, which isn’t a bad thing, and I still have... I think five to meet. Thing is, I only see four men up on the VIP deck. I can’t tell from here if one left.

Wandering back to the bar, finding Rose, Katie and Tory eyeing me as I approach, “How’d those go?” Tory asks, tossing a towel over his shoulder.

“Ah. I don’t know. A few so far are material I’d delve back into. A couple,” I think about it for a second, “Yeah, they’re not going to go to the next round.”

“Ah, sugar. Sorry. I know you have hopes for this. Maybe the right one is still up there.” Nodding toward the men in the VIP. Looking over, smiling, and thinking that there’s still hope for this idea, I can’t disagree. This has merit.

“I could check out a few for you,” Rose chirps.

“I got it. Thanks babe.” I know this must be killing her. Single, eligible men that we hand-selected based on certain criteria. It’s like a smorgasbord of perfection to her. I look at Tory, “Could you make me a Silent Jim, please.”

“You got it,” he answers. As he turns to the rail where we keep the liquor bottles, he asked, “What was wrong with my margarita? I thought they were the shit?”

“It was great. The second too.” I replied, “I think I should be sober, or close to, for the last group. If I’m loaded it’s just an orgy, not a selection process.”

“And??” Drawing out the word, raising her eyebrows in a why not look, Rose is totally serious. “I don’t see an issue with that.”

“Selection makes for perfection.” Katie quips.

Bypassing Katie’s comment, I answer Rose. “Another time. I’ll consider it another time.” Grabbing up my Silent Jim, or better known as tonic, grenadine, and cherry kombucha, I start toward the last contestants on the docket.
