Listing Your House on the MLS

As previously noted, your agent should have access to the most popular MLS service in your area. Once your home is listed on the MLS, ask your agent to send you the listing, and read it carefully to make sure it says what you want it to say.

Double-check that all the information is correct in the system. The numbers on a keyboard are close together, and agents are human. It’s easy to fat-finger the number of bedrooms or bathrooms on a listing. While it’s an easy mistake to make, it can cause your listing to sit on the market if not corrected quickly.

After you have read through the description and made sure all the stats of the house are correct, click through the photos to make sure they are pictures of your home and that they are in the correct order. You want a picture of the exterior of the home to be first and subsequent pictures to be in a logical order. Kitchen, living areas, and bedrooms before bathrooms. You do not want your first image to be of a toilet.
