Lucas Oil makes a range of products to help keep your hot rod running from High Zinc Hot Rod & Classic Car Oil to Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with stabilizers.

This plastic mock-up small-block Chevy and Turbo 350 transmission was put to use at Rick Lefever’s shop on his amazing frame table where he began to mock up his son Rayce’s Model A coupe. These blocks may be a good investment if you intend to build more than one car.

Mock-Up Block and Transmission

A plastic mock-up block and transmission, such as those from P-Ayr Products (mockupmotors.com), are not for everyone because they typically cost around $400. However, if you might do this more than once with the same engine and perhaps even the same transmission, it may be worth the investment. They even have a plastic flathead Ford V-8 with Ardun heads. Of course, you might be able to find a used one for sale, you might be able to borrow one, or you might be able to share one with some buddies. They typically weigh between 20 and 35 pounds, so they are so much easier to fling around compared to a 400-plus-pound iron block. They also come with threaded inserts in all the accessory mounting holes, so you can be certain that everything fits before you tear it apart for final assembly.
