Pneumonia

Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs caused by microorganisms. Pneumonia is found in lambs and adult sheep. One of the most important forms is Pasteurellosis. Pasteurellosis is found usually in adult sheep, but it can cause septicaemia in lambs 4–6 weeks old. Sheep lose their appetite and breathe rapidly, have a high temperature and may have a dry cough. A postmortem will confirm the disease. Pneumonia is susceptible to antibiotics. Most sheep farmers I know use a vaccine that is mixed with the clostidrial vaccine. Heptavac P is used here on this farm.
