‘why,’ he asks,

‘would anyone know that?’

and i cannot help but chuckle,

that the body he loves to kiss and caress is built upon

knowing

not only the calories in an apple,

but a pear.

half a banana,

3 grapes,

a singular piece of spearmint gum,

a green tea brewed for exactly 4 minutes.

the calculator in my head is exhausting me

with its second nature and its accuracy.

and in some super fucked up, sick way,

i cannot help but feel

proud.

you know i used to love the smell of fresh fruit,

i’d let my nose be engulfed by the scent.

it is only now, i realise that

smelling

is not the same as

eating.

my stomach, empty.

i can feel the jealousy

it holds for my nose

with every grumble

and gurgle.

it is beg ging to be fed,

always.
