You can find lots of paper at the recycling center!

From Pulp to Paper

At the paper mill, the paper we recycle is turned into new paper. The first step in this process is called pulping. This is when water is added to the paper to decompose it and turn it into wood pulp. This is a mix of tiny pieces of wood, called fibers, and water.

A chopping machine is used to help break the paper down into pulp.

The next step in recycling paper is called screening. During this step, the pulp is passed through screens that take out unwanted things. It’s easy for the screens to catch things that shouldn’t go into new paper. Some screens even catch things like paper clips!
