“Harry!” I called out. “There’s no teacher here. You’ll get in trouble.”

“I have to run, Doug. I’m going cuckoo! Just two more laps.”

I looked around the hallway. The first-grade girls were going up the stairs back to their classroom.

No one else was there.

“If Mr. Deltoid catches you, you’re in big, big trouble!” I warned.

“Just one more lap!” Harry called out.

I began to perspire as I watched Harry run near the walls of the gym. When he got to a corner, he took a huge leap into the air!

Suddenly, heavy footsteps were coming from the kitchen. It was Mr. Deltoid, singing his bone song.

“With the toe bone connected to the

foot bone,

and the foot bone connected to the

ankle bone,

and the ankle bone connected to the

leg bone.

Oh mercy how they scare!”
