Chapter 12

Nikolai

My brothers always have had horrible timing, but I think this is one of the worst times I can ever remember. I can hear the laughter in Victor’s voice. I would like nothing more than to slam my fist into his face. I’m frustrated enough to do that very thing. I know, however, that it would just make all three of them worse. I don’t have many things in this world that I’m connected to, but my brothers are definitely one.

Victor, Mikal, and Andrey.

Victor is the oldest, then me, followed closely by Mikal and Andrey—who are twins. I pull my hand regretfully from beneath Gabriella’s bikini. I lean out just enough so that I can look into her eyes. Her face is flushed, the color deepening in her cheeks, then moving down her neck and across her chest. I hate that she still has her bikini on, I would like to see her whole body flushed with hunger. Although, I know that right now part of her coloring is because of embarrassment. I look deeply into her eyes, our gazes lock as I slowly bring my fingers between us.

“Niko,” Gabriella gasps. Even though, she’s embarrassed and wants to leave, I can still hear the hunger in her voice.

“It’s OK, Milen’kiy,” I respond softly, taking my free hand and brushing her hair and cupping the side of her neck. “Out!” I order my brothers.

“But, Nikolai, we are so enjoying the show,” Victor laughs.

“Get out, I won’t tell you again.”

My brothers all laugh, but at least they are walking away. I wait until they’re completely out of the room, then I demand Gabriella’s attention.

“Look at me, Pretty girl.” She slowly brings her face back up, her gaze locked with mine. “You are beautiful, Gabby, my love.”

Once I’m sure that I have her attention, I put my fingers into my mouth licking them clean, and letting her watch.

“Oh, God,” she whimpers, a fine shiver running through her body.

“Niko, who are those people?”

“I’m sorry, Gabby. Those are my brothers and as you can tell, they have very bad timing.”

“Oh, God… They saw us. They saw me.”

“They saw nothing. What we just shared is for us and us alone. Trust me, Gabby, they might have been giving me a hard time just then, but they will not say anything else to you.”

“But what if—”

“There are no ifs. It will be fine, you will see. How about you go upstairs to your room and get ready for dinner. You can try out one of the new dresses I bought you.”

“But, they, I mean...”

“It’s all going to be fine, pretty girl. You just get ready for dinner, I’ll handle my brothers.”

She walks away, muttering under her breath. “I didn’t even know you had brothers.”

“Soon, Milen’kiy. Soon, you will know everything and trust in what we are.”

“What are we?” she asks so quietly that I have to strain to hear her.

“Forever, Gabriella. We are forever.”

She takes in my words, her face softening, her eyes warming and the stress I saw there moments earlier disappears.
