The Ball

Regina allowed Belle to dress her for the evening festivities. She felt the pearl crown placed on her head. She looked in the mirror and saw a vision. Belle was very good at making her look divine. She stood up in the gold ball gown that had been made for her. Everything was in place for her announcement to Marcel. She had fallen hopelessly in love with him over the few days that they had spent together.

It was something she had not expected. His charm and wit won her over in the first few days. He presented a very regal front and always made sure she had her needs or wants taken care of. He seemed to be as excited about the ball as she was. As Belle placed her feet in the golden shoes for the evening, Regina took a deep breath and looked at Belle.

“How do I look?” She asked.

“Beautiful as always miss.” Bell responded. “You will be the center of attention tonight.”

“Well I guess it is time for me to go join our guest.” Regina picked up her white lace fan and put on her long gloves.

As she headed down the stairs, she noticed how decorated the castle was from the top of the stairs to the bottom. Rose had gone all out for this party. There were gold flowers that had white trim to give it an opulent affect. The servants were bustling about taking care of all the guest as she walked down the stairs. There was silence when she came into view.

Her chestnut hair had been placed upon her head in a bun with ringlets hanging down. Her gold gown was sewn on her to become the perfect fit. Her full breast were pushed to show pillows above the fabric. She walked with grace down the stairs to join her mother and father who were standing with the Duke and the guest he had brought with him. She looked around to see where Elzbeth and Martinita were. She was sure they were there somewhere.

Marcel kissed her on the cheek when she joined the party and stood beside her. The orchestra was playing in the ball room and Regina’s heart leapt. She wanted to dance. Almost reading her mind, Marcel took her by the hand and led her to the ball room. He held his hand out and bowed to her and then pulled her into his arms as they moved around the dance floor. She was sure her heart was going to come out of her chest.

Soon the dance was over and everyone stopped to clap for the orchestra that was getting ready for the next dance. Rose and Prince Valsroy moved to where they could speak loudly for all to hear. They were going to announce about the marriage that was to take place in the spring of Regina and Marcel. At that moment, Regina felt the excitement grow as the crowd listened to the announcement and then clapped for the couple. The music began and Marcel and Regina danced alone in a circle of their friends.
