Chapter Six
As soon as she arrived in her room, Laela put her luggage down and went to the balcony to look out at the beach. It was so calm and peaceful that she just sat on a chair and allowed the scent of the sea water to waft over her.
The last few weeks had been so tough that she just needed a de-stressor and this proved to be it. For a moment, she pretended that she was back in Jamaica, lounging on the beach. She pretended that there was no stress and that life was perfect.
Her peaceful camaraderie was broken when the phone in her room rang. She knew that it could only be Joyce because she was the only one who knew where she was. She didn’t call Alex because she knew he must have been with his kids.
“Hello?” she answered.
“Baby, why are you at a hotel?” came Alex’s voice. “Joyce called me.”
She smiled. It was so good to hear his voice and he already sounded less stressed out. “I didn’t want to stay at the villa anymore and as you now have your kids, I didn’t expect you to come back, so there was no point in me staying.”
He released an audible sigh. “Did something happen?” he asked.
“Nothing you need to worry about,” she told him.
Alex didn’t understand what was going on. She didn’t say anything to him in the morning about leaving, but then she left and didn’t even call him. He felt like she was slipping through his fingers and the thought scared him. “I need to see you,” he told her.
“You can, when you want to.”
“The kids are having lunch with Jacky’s sister. I didn’t want to just snatch them away from her when they need all the comfort they can get. I’ll be there in twenty minutes,” he told her.
Laela could hear the worry in his voice and it broke her heart. She didn’t mean to worry him; she just needed a new environment to clear her head.
He was there in less than the twenty minutes he anticipated and he pulled her into his arms the moment she opened the door. “Don’t scare me like that again.” He covered her mouth with his and gently pressed his tongue against her lips – seeking entrance.
Laela welcomed him and wrapped her arms around him. Their bodies were pressed against each other and the scent of his cologne set her body on fire.
His hands were all over her. He kissed her with so much need that she just wanted to throw him down on the bed and make sweet love to him. His manhood was pressed against her hips and she could feel just how much need he had.
Alex slowly pushed her backwards until she felt the bed against her legs. He didn’t stop until she was on her back and he was on top of her. Their mouths were still connected, but when Laela felt him push his leg between hers, she knew she had to stop him.
