Rituals for the Soul
Ritual has a way of harnessing potent cosmic energy and focusing it for a specific purpose. Here we will share some of the effective rituals that we have developed over the years in honor of the soul and the transformation process. These rituals draw upon influences from many different paths. They can be used individually or incorporated into any type of bodywork session. We encourage you to try them out, or perhaps adapt them into your own healing protocols.
Rituals and ceremonies can open a door to spirit realms, and create a field of intention in the room, around you and the receiver. For any ritual to be effective, we must engage the three souls: body, mind, and spirit. The ku (body) loves to participate in all forms of ritual because it’s being stimulated through the physical senses. The deeper the sensory impression on the ku, the more open the body is to engage and offer its support. Movement builds up energy in the body that can be used for the process of creation. The lono (mind) takes the energy built up in the body and directs it by using strong words and focused thoughts during each phase of the ritual. When we use a ritual to connect and elevate our consciousness to the level of spirit, transformation takes place because the higher powers (na ’Aumakua) intervene on our behalf here in this physical dimension. Sincere intention is everything in ritual, so a strong opening prayer and a strong ending prayer—both with gratitude—create a powerful container for something wonderful to take place. One of the most powerful aspects of ritual is how it can unify the focus of two or more people together in a common purpose, greatly adding to the power and strength of what you are bringing into form.
Honoring the Soul
Honi, Smudging, Anointing, Bathing the Feet,
Affirmative Prayer
Here is an outline of a ritualistic healing session:
Welcome the client in with a hug or honi when they enter
Guide them toward the candle-lit altar to smudge them to clear their aura
Anoint them with a sacred oil blend to honor the spirit within their body
Bathe and massage their feet in hot water mixed with sea salt and sacred oils
Address the mental and emotional bodies by opening a truth dialog
Use a powerful prayer to connect with spirit and set clear intentions for the outcome
Lead them to the massage table to begin the bodywork treatment
