Shannon

Shannon laid lazily in bed while Jackson got Franny from her room. She had tugged on his t-shirt after sex, but all she wanted to do was lay in bed for the rest of the day. She had spent so much of her day worried about the upcoming court case, that she practically cleaned the entire house. Taking a break and spending the afternoon screaming out Jackson’s name helped to relieve some of her stress.

“Mommy,” Franny cheered, running into their room to jump on the bed.

“Hey, squirt,” Shannon said, pulling her daughter in close to snuggle. Jackson walked into the room and crawled into bed with the two of them. When they were like this—the three of them in their own little world, it felt like she had finally found her place. Shannon had fallen for Jackson, not that she’d tell him that. She was hoping that he’d say those words first—make some grand, sweeping announcement that he couldn’t live without her. But those words never came and she was fine with the way things were between them. She couldn’t make him any promises anyway right now. Not with things so up in the air with her ex and the trial. As soon as it was over though, she planned on spilling her guts to him and telling Jackson exactly how she felt about him and let the chips fall where they may. She had been through worse than having to bare her soul to a man. Hell, her ex tried to rip her soul out of her body, yet here she was, finding some form of happiness with Jackson Hart.

His cell phone rang and he grabbed it from the nightstand, leaving the room. She knew that it had to be Axel. No one else really called Jackson’s phone except him and occasionally, his sister, Tatum. She still hadn’t told Jackson that he was going to be an uncle and Shannon had to admit, she almost slipped up and told his sister’s secret a few times. If he was half as good with Tatum’s kid as he was with Franny, he’d be a great uncle.

“How about you lay in Mommy’s bed and watch some cartoons while I make you a snack?” she asked Franny. She’d want in on the conversation between Axel and Jackson and Shannon really didn’t want her toddler privy to it. She tried to shield her daughter from most of what was going on around them. As far as Franny was concerned, they were on a fun beach vacation with Mommy’s new friend.

“Okay,” Franny said. She snuggled into the bed and Shannon found the remote, turning on some cartoons for her daughter, and went to find Jackson.

“You’re fucking kidding me, right?” Jackson shouted. She stopped in the hallway, not sure if she wanted to hear the rest or retreat to her safe bed and watch cartoons with Franny.

“All right,” Jackson growled. “I’ll increase security around the beach house but if this guy shows up here personally, I’m going to fucking kill him,” Jackson yelled.
