The Learning Curve

While I am writing this material to send to my friend Nicole D. Phoenix to type up for this book, I'm watching one of America's favorite series on the Paramount network called Yellowstone. I've seen all of the episodes at least five times over the past few years. Kevin Costner is the leader of the Dutton Ranch in Montana. A family of monsters. They are all serial killers that empty their victims at what they call the 'train station'. A canyon in Wyoming where all of their secrets go to rot and decompose. My favorite episode has Rip walking up to a fisherman and he shakes a cooler with a rattlesnake in it- exposing it to the face of the man and the snake bites him, killing the man in just minutes. Good riddance! The show is full of murder. Each death different in some ways. The learning curve of death. I also have to learn to kill. How to get what I want out of things. A progression of how I evolve unchecked by anyone. I'll have to develop my own kind of 'train station'.

With the Daun Slagle case settled in April 1992, returning to Yakima I soon discovered my chauffeurs license wasn't any good to drive semis anymore. Between 1991 and 1992, the department of transportation decided to have truck drivers have their own license to drive, the Commerical Drivers License, or C.D.L.

First off, I had to pass a written test and get a medical card. Then locate an office to take my drivers test. Passed the written in Ellensburg and went to Yakima to get my job tractor and trailer, taking it over to be road tested. Anthony and Gina Silva hired me right there and sent me to Ellensburg to get my CDL at the DMV. Pulled up outside and parked on the shoulder and the nice officer looked over my medical card and driver's test report, looked up to see a Plum colored Peterbilt pulling a 48 foot refer.

'Is that your rig?'

'Yes it is.'

A smile came across her face as she took my photo for my new CDL.

'You drove that here?' she said as she handed me my license.

'Yes miss, I have to pick up a load of boxed meat in Ellensburg Washington beef plant.'

And off I drove to Glendale, Arizona to Glendale Meats. A & G Trucking hired me providing Roberta no longer was with me. After murdering Taunja Bennett and dealing with Daun Slagle in the 'she said he said' battle for over two years, I decided not to be with women out on the road.

When I saw hitch hikers I just never stopped. Now I'd meet women at stores and restaurants and have them waiting for me where they were. Out on the road they were trouble. I wasn't looking for any more trouble any time soon.

I'm guessing it was August 1992 when I had a load of frozen potatoes fries going to Smith Foods in west Phoenix, Arizona. My
