Chapter SEVEN

She said we would practice social distancing from other people for the rest of the day, but we could do anything in or around her house.

“Anything?” I asked.

Before I ate my sandwich and a salad, I washed my hands. I remembered to sing the birthday song two times while I was washing, but really, I was thinking about how I was helping Mutty and other people stay healthy.

For the rest of the day I had so much fun. I wrote in my journal. I colored in a coloring book. We played store and I counted out dollars for Aunt Holly’s change. I read books and played tic-tac-toe on her giant board.

We walked down to Aunt Holly’s river and I looked into the water. I could see little fish swimming around.

“Do fish have to wash their hands?” I asked.

Aunt Holly held her head to the side like she was thinking.

“I tricked you,” I said. “Fish don’t have hands!”

“Hey,” she laughed. “You tricked me!”

I made up a jumping game. I ran and jumped as high as I could off of the front steps, and Aunt Holly took my picture. We laughed because I made funny faces when I jumped in the air. I jumped again and again.

“You know what, Aunt Holly?” I said after I finished another jump. “I jumped more times than I washed my hands today.”

We both laughed.

I did some exercises on the ground and when I got tired, I pretended to take a nap.

“See, Aunt Holly,” I said, “I did my exercises and now I’m getting my sleep.”

She said I was getting good at remembering my healthy habits.

When we went back in the house, I washed my hands before Aunt Holly could remind me. I was starting to remember all of the “Healthy 7” habits by myself.
