STEP 5: Cut and weed your design.
Use scissors to trim away the vinyl around the part of the design youâre using, then peel all of the excess vinyl from the backing. Make sure to remove the centers of letters like âaâ and âo.â This should leave you with only your lettering on the paper backing.
STEP 6: Apply a piece of transfer tape on top of your weeded design.
Transfer tape is a sticky, clear material with grid lines on it to help you align and transfer your design to a surface. Remove the paper backing, then adhere it on top of your design. Peel off the backing from the vinyl, which will leave you with just the transfer tape and the vinyl itself.
