Chapter Thirteen
Charisma
YESTERDAY STARTED OUT being one of the worst days since I lost my mom. Finding out Iâm losing my home because of being one month behind and the shape of the house was a blow I didnât need. Then, Grinder told me heâd pay off the house and thatâs not something I want him doing. Iâll be in debt with him and itâs not something I ever want to be is indebted to someone. Everything I have, Iâve busted my ass for. I donât have anything to my name other than what my mom left me, but itâs okay. Other than having a roof over my head and a place to work, I donât need much else. Well, maybe someone to love me. I have yet to determine if Grinderâs that man.
Then, when I woke up, Ghost and Grinder were ripping out the carpeting in the house. We got it all out just before a dumpster showed up and was parked where the car used to sit. Axel and another Prospect from the club ended up tossing everything away. Ghost even started ripping up the old, damaged tile in the bathroom so I can pick out new tiles to lay down. Apparently, the entire house is getting a makeover and itâs just happening without my approval. I get why Grinder wants to help get it done after he filled me in on the conversation he had with the man at the bank. Weâre going to make this place look decent so no one can say part of the reason Iâm losing it is because itâs falling down around me.
What also floored me about yesterday is brand-new appliances showed up for the kitchen and laundry room. I have a new washer and dryer, refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and everything I need to cook. Itâs something Iâve missed doing and want to get back into it. The one way I relax myself and donât keep thinking about the things I canât change is to cook and bake. Itâs been a long time since Iâve done either on a regular basis. Other than making baked goods to sell to neighbors when mom was still alive. I honestly canât wait to get back to it.
A short while after the new appliances were dropped off and installed, the olâ ladies of the club delivered groceries and everything else I would need to cook and bake. I cried like a baby as Grinder held me in his arms. While the men were taking care of the tiling and carpeting, the rest of us got to work in the kitchen. I got rid of almost everything since they brought me all brand-new pots and pans, baking items, mixers, plates, bowls, cups, silverware, and everything else you can possibly imagine. We cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom with the exception of the floor. My uncle let me know they would be ripping it out too so the tiles will be replaced in there as well.
When the olâ ladies left, it was just Grinder, my uncle, Axel, Gunner, and myself in the house.
