Apache Hotel

The history of the Apache Hotel is an extraordinary example of how rapidly casino ownership changed downtown. A ground floor cafe faced Fremont Street when the Apache opened in 1932. Soon after, the Apache Casino would share the ground floor, lasting until 1940. It was the New Western Casino from 1941 to 1942, the S.S. Rex Club in 1945, the Rex Club in 1946, the Eldorado Club from 1947 to 1951, the Horseshoe from 1951 to 1953, Joe W. Brown’s Horseshoe from 1953 to 1958, Binion’s Horseshoe from 1958 to 2005, and since 2005 it’s been known as Binion’s Gambling Hall.
