RETURNING TO LIFE AND MINISTRY

It did not take long for things to get hectic. Once out of prison, I was inundated with media requests. One came from Danielle Smith, who was formerly involved in politics at the provincial level and is well known in our province. During my first week in prison while listening to the radio, I heard her grill our premier about my imprisonment. Needless to say, I was willing to appear on her program.

Danielle made the announcement on social media about my appearance on Friday, March 26. On Saturday, March 27, we received correspondence from AHS offering a virtual meeting to discuss the science behind COVID and AHS’s lockdown measures. Receiving correspondence from AHS on Saturday was highly unusual, and I suspected Danielle’s announcement triggered it. I believe they wanted to keep me silent.

In addition, AHS and the RCMP attempted to gain access to our facility on Sunday morning. This too seemed strange, because during the five weeks of my imprisonment, neither AHS nor the RCMP visited our property. They simply parked on the road at a distance. I received word of this a minute or two before the beginning of the service and had to go into the pulpit not knowing what their intentions were. In the end, two of our church leaders were able to keep them out. There is video footage of that interaction compliments of Rebel News.30 Both men handled the situation phenomenally.

I had asked pastor Mike Hovland to preach that Sunday. He was formerly our associate pastor and had moved eight hours north to pastor a church plant in La Crete, Alberta. Mike played an important role in our stand. In fact, the week that I was imprisoned, he drove from La Crete to Edmonton to attend our elders meeting in person. His leadership at that stage was critical; Pastor Jacob had been in ministry for only four months. It was resurrection Sunday, and Mike preached a powerful sermon declaring the glorious truth that Jesus is seated in the heavenly places far above all rule and authority. The message put fire in my bones.
