Susan may have intended to needle Audrey, but she clearly didn't expect the shifter to leap at her, flowing instantly into lioness form as she jumped.

Fortunately, Blake did.

He slammed into the lioness from the side, still in his human form: his hawk didn't have enough mass to knock a 300 pound lion off track. His human form barely did, honestly, but it got her attention. She snarled and writhed around while Susan let out a short, harsh shriek and threw herself over her desk to the relative safety of its other side.

Blake shifted to a hawk and jumped toward the relative safety of the high office ceiling just as Neil also shifted and leaped.

Neil hit Audrey as Blake's tailfeathers hit the ceiling. A huge squalling roar of anger erupted from the lioness, who flipped on her back and made what appeared to be a genuine effort to disembowel her own brother. Blake dropped from the ceiling, talons extended, and scored huge bloody lines in Neil's ribs, but had to shift to his human form and somersault away as Audrey lashed out with a massive paw.

Both cats untangled as Blake came to his feet and shifted again, his wings spread wide and his feathers puffed to make him look twice his normal size.

Even a lion with human intelligence driving it shrank back at the sight of an aggressive raptor that large. Blake dropped his jaw into a scream that thundered through the office, shaking the windows and knocking things off desks.

Audrey recovered first, nerving herself up to lash a paw at him, but from a distance that meant she would never connect. Blake swept one vast wing forward, slamming into Neil and knocking him against Audrey. She crouched, keeping her balance, then pounced, easily sailing the distance to Blake.

He shifted again and dove forward, under her. Audrey, unable to stop her momentum, slammed hard into the office wall and slid down, momentarily stunned. Blake stepped forward, shifting as he did so, and seized Neil in the talons of one foot. A normal raptor wouldn't be able to throw something so heavy, compared to its own body weight, but shifters weren't entirely bound by the laws of physics. Blake threw Neil against the wall, too, sending him to slump over Audrey, then screamed at them both again.

Susan's desk, and Susan, were more or less behind him now, safe from the lions. He spread his wings and hissed, warning the twins to give up as they staggered to their feet. Both of them shifted, Neil's suit in bloody tatters around his ribs as he sneered, "You think a bird can take two lions?"

Blake gave another thunderous scream, flapping his wings. Art fell off the walls, chairs fell, electronics crashed and snapped with released electricity, and the Lomidge twins decided wisdom was the better part of valour, and bolted for the door. Blake swept around, looking for Susan, and found her…

…she wouldn't like the word 'cowering'. 'Prudently hiding' beneath her desk, only her eyes, forehead, hair and fingertips visible over its edge, like Kilroy.
